Boys Varsity Ice Hockey

Prior to coaching Steve played hockey, baseball and golf starting when he was very young. He has been coaching for 13 years. The hockey position opened at Monadnock 4 years ago and Steve wanted to help out athletic director, Tom Cote fill that temporary void. When asked what guided him to being a coach, his answer was simple. He genuinely enjoys helping and watching his athletes succeed. Seeing his athletes going on to graduate and knowing that as a coach he was there to help them in some way is what he finds most rewarding. The way coaching is constantly changing for him as he states “If you have 20 kids on a roster, you need to be able to coach 20 different ways to help each individual kid” Within his coaching style he also encourages his athletes that when a mistake is made, they own it and work to fix it. His seasonal goal is making certain that his athletes graduate from Monadnock this season.
